Year of YES - Shonda Rhimes

 * You-and you alone-are in control of your life. And you have the power to follow your dreams.

* When you keep making and then breaking promises to yourself, you are letting yourself down every time => Form a habit of keeping your promises by keeping them realistic.

* If you really want to follow your dreams - however long it takes, however many times people say it can't be done - don't take no for an asnwer.

* Sex life: Embrace your body(positive self-talk)+ commit to having sex every day for a month.

* Laugh at the chaos and say yes to any offers of help

* Healthy life by editing your social media (follow the right people) + Prepare/prepare/prepare

* Embrace diversity for a richer, more interesting and more productive life

* If you have a goal for yourself, make it as tangible as possible. Write it down in detail. Focus on it. Visualize it

* Stop comparing yourself to others. There is only one person than whom  you should aim to be better: the person you were yesterday.

The Execution Factor-Kim Perell

  • The Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had become the first human to reach outer space
  • Five traits of effective Execution:
+ Having a vision (more general goal that can be achieved in various ways)-WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EXECUTE?

=> Vision should be clear (articulate in a single sentence and specific), compelling, meaningful and pertinent which means it fits your values, preferences, desires and personality.

=> picture yourself having already achieved your vision. What do you see? Ask yourself specific questions to generate specific answers.

=> Write it down in a place where you will see it everyday; keep it in mind as you plan your day-pursuing and prioritizing tasks that provide stepping stones to achieve your vision.

+ Having passion: identify, feed and prioritize it

=> what you're passionate about?

=> What are you doing on a regular basis that's feeding your passion?

+ Moving forward: Take small first step and keep moving.

=> Create and implement a daily review process to make sure you are not far from your vision: Did they really align with your vision? Did they really take you closer to achieving it? Are they feeding your passion? What direction are they taking you?

+ Resilience:  Take small first step and keep moving.

=> Staying positive, hopeful and hungry for new opportunities

=> Take care of yourself emotionally: physical exercise, mediation, journaling, creating an action plan and talking things out with a friend and mentor.

+ Relationship: Expanding, deepening and maintaining

=> Expanding: look for people outside your immediate social vicinity.

=> Deepening: Ask deeper, open-ended questions

=> Maintaining: Showing appreciation through nice, thoughtful gestures

=> Conduct a periodic life audit of your relationship: delete negative people and keep/expand positive people

Brief Answers to the Big Questions-Stephen Hawking

 Biggest questions:

- Where did we come from? How did we get here? Why is the universe made this way?

- Our universes came into being by the Big Bang.

+ In 1929, Edwin Hubble found that all galaxies are moving away from one another. The further they are from earth, the faster they are moving. 10 to 15 billion years ago, they were extremely close together.

+ In 1965, they discovered that the universe had a very dense and hot beginning.

- Eistein found that  space and time aren't separate entities. They are interwoven into a "fabric" and we call space-time-the stage on which the universe exists.

=> The Big Bang couldn't have a cause because time didn't exist. There is no time for a cause to exist in.

- We have fossil evidence of basic life on our planet from 3.5 billion years ago-500 million years after the earth became habitable. By the time Earth had formed, the universe was celebrating its seven billionth birthday.

- Black holes are formed when stars collapse. This happens because theses giant balls of gas possess an incredible amount of mass and the more mass there is, the more gravity accompanies it.

- Planet threats:

+ Greenhouse effect => Reduce our carbon footprint (Global warming)

+ Nuclear annihilation

- Moore's Law: computers can double their speed and capacity every 18 months. If it happens, AI may surpass human intelligence within 100s years

=> Look at AI with a critical eye: Always ask yourself what impact these developments will have on society (Now and then!)
